adventrek

Launched in 2005, we challenge and experientially educate people about injustice and culture in order to inspire them to live with humility and holistically within community. We've started this process by planning international short-term journeys where we can serve, learn and be exposed to injustice, poverty, & other cultures.

The Idea

You are invited to serve, learn and experience another way of life. We want to awaken you to a broader sense of global realities through local serving/learning opportunities as well as short-term international experiences. Our desire is that you will begin to live out the following core values in your local community: humility, hope, unity, compassion, peace and equality. We invite you to a life of reflective awareness of yourself and others, where you will find purpose and significance and live counter-culturally as an agent of change.

what's an adventrek?

A new kind of journey : ăd-vĕn'-trĕk

It's more than an overseas trip, it's a new kind of journey designed to give you the opportunity to experientially learn about and practically contribute towards advancing social justice. Through humanitarian aid work, cultural immersion and education, you'll experience the culture and excitement of each country we serve in and with whom we partner.

On an adventrek you will serve alongside existing community development organizations in a variety of social justice, humanitarian aid, economic development and education projects.

On an adventrek, you will learn about the unique challenges facing that country, not solely from an intellectual or statistical perspective, but also from many opportunities to discover the stories of local people. You'll enter into their existence in an attempt to understand them, not to change them, and you'll most likely walk away with a more profound awareness of yourself and your worldview.

On an adventrek, you will live in community with others who are different than you. You will be challenged and provoked to think, behave and believe differently about the world you live in.
Go on an adventrek!
